Blended with Pain: Notorious Devils (Cash Bar Book 4) Page 5

He reaches out, tugging on the end of my hair, which I have braided and it hangs down my shoulder. “Yeah, Sweet Pea, I’m sure I can spare it. Let’s get out of here. The sooner, the better,” he mysteriously announces.

I follow behind him, toward his big black bike. He helps me onto the back with a few instructions, all of which go in one ear and out the other because I’m so damn nervous. Then he shrugs off his jacket and hands it to me.

“Wear that,” he orders. I pull it on, glad that he’s given it to me, because what he explained that he wanted me to wear, I didn’t have.

The bike’s engine starts with a roar and we all take off, just in time to see Tim walking out of his front door, a look of confusion clearly marring his features. I make a mental note to ask Roxanne more about that relationship, and situation. Although, selfishly I can’t deny that I’m glad she’s coming with me.

  CHAPTER SIX

  KEYS

OUR FIRST STOP is going to be Roswell, New Mexico. The faster we get the fuck out of Texas the better. I send Snake a text letting him know we’re on the road when we stop at our first gas station. Carson scrambles off of my bike and I watch her rub her ass. Then, I watch that sweet ass as it walks past me and toward the backseat of her car.

“Brother,” Baby mutters from next to me. I grunt, watching as Carson bends, leaning over to talk to her friend, then turns her head to talk to Axe. “That snatch up for grabs?” he asks.

Turning around, I press my forearm against the front of his neck and push him up against the gas pump. “You even fucking look at her sideways and I’ll make you wish you were fucking dead.”

“But you won’t kill me?” he asks, smirking.

Pushing my forearm against his throat a little hard, I grin and lean in. “Trust me, you’ll wish I killed you, you’ll fucking beg me to.” Pushing off of him, I walk toward Carson as he laughs between his coughs. The fucker.

“You two go get some snacks. I’ll fill up the car,” I grunt, lifting my chin toward the gas station’s shop.

They both look at me, then back to Axe who is awake and smiling in my direction. “Don’t go into the can without one of us at your back,” I state.

Carson frowns. “You do know this is the modern age, and I can go to the bathroom without a male escort, don’t you?” she asks, popping her hip out and placing her hand there.

I smile, letting my eyes trail down her slight curves then go back up to her face. “Yeah, Sweet Pea. I know it’s the modern age. I’m pretty sure that fuck standing next to the front door won’t give much of a shit if you’re an independent woman though. He’s had his eyes on your ass since you got off my bike. He’s just waiting for an opportunity.”

Her head whips around, looking at the man, and then comes back to me. “Don’t leave me alone,” she whispers, all of her modern age bullshit seemingly forgotten.

I almost make her go in alone, since she wanted to talk all that shit. I almost make her back it up, but I don’t. If anything happened to her, I’m not sure how I would react. I’m sure someone would die, based on my reaction to Baby asking if she was up for grabs.

“C’mon, Roxanne, Chuck,” I say, lifting my chin toward the teenager in the front seat. His name is Charlie but honest to fuck, Chuck fits him better.

Pulling the door open, I take Axe out of his car seat thing and hold him against my side. “Houston, stay with the bikes and car. Baby, you’re with me,” I announce.

Houston lifts his hand in a two-fingered wave and I watch as he switches from filling up his bike, to doing Baby’s. The fucker standing next to the door watches us. He can’t see my eyes beneath my black sunglasses, and I don’t make it obvious that I’m glaring at him. Instead, I slide my hand around Carson’s hip.

  “Ace,” she breathes.

I grunt, not saying a word. I need all of my senses for this sketchy as hell fucker. Once we’re inside of the convenience store, I take both girls to the bathroom and stand vigil with a wiggling four-year-old in my arms.

  “Chill, buddy,” I murmur.

He lets out a heavy sigh. “I have to go pee,” he practically yells.

Baby chuckles. “I got the girls, take the boy to the John.”

Walking into the men’s room, I walk Axe over to the urinal. He looks at me, then the urinal, then back at me. “I have to pee,” he says dancing around.

I tilt my head to the side. “Then pee, buddy.”

He shakes his head. “Where’s the toilet?”

Thinking maybe he needs to take a dump, I walk him over to the only stall in the place. I watch as he places toilet paper squares on the seat and then sits. Turning away, I hear him pee then a second later he’s standing next to me, tugging his pants up.

“You didn’t need to… poop?” I ask, taking longer than needed to think of a kid appropriate word for shit.

He shakes his head. “Nope,” before he runs to the sink and washes his hands with soap and water.

It dawns on me. He doesn’t know how to take a piss standing up. He was raised by a woman, a really fucking young one at that. I shake my head. First order of business will be to teach my son how to take a piss standing.

I push the bathroom door open to see Baby with his weapon drawn and that sketchy fuck from outside with his hands up. “Just going to take a leak,” he says, his eyes wild.

“I think you’ll wait until after we leave,” I state.

He narrows his eyes, then I watch him lick his lips.

“Ace,” a sweet voice whispers behind me.

Without looking at Carson, I push Axe toward her. “Take your girl, and Axe, go get some snacks, and get right to the car. Chuck, stay with them.”

The wild eyed stranger’s mouth opens, but he’s smart enough to shut it. “Baby, bring him in here,” I grin walking back into the empty bathroom.

The door flies open as Baby kicks him through the bathroom door. “Now what were you planning on doing to my woman and her friend?” I ask, widening my legs.

The stranger glares at me, then shrugs his shoulder. “Nothin’. I was coming in here to take a piss,” he says, his eyes darting around.

“Well, by all means, piss,” I offer, waving my hand in front of the urinal.

“Don’t gotta go no more,” he grunts.

I open my mouth to say something when he lunges toward me. Baby is faster and closer than I am. He punches him in the side of the head before he slams the butt of his gun against his temple. I hear something clatter against the dirty tile flooring and glance down. A knife.

“This fuck. We should kill him,” Baby growls.

I shake my head. “Nah, not worth it. Let’s get the fuck out of here. We need to get going if we’re going to make Roswell today.”

We leave the fucker on the bathroom floor and head out to the gas pumps. The man behind the counter gives us a sideways glance but doesn’t say anything. Chuck, Roxanne, and Axe are already buckled in the car ready to go by the time we get back outside.

Walking over to the backseat of the car, I pull the door open, pressing my lips to the top of Axe’s head. “Be good, okay?” I murmur against his blond hair.

“I’m always good,” he shrugs. I chuckle, straightening my back and closing the door. “See you at the hotel, Rox.” I wave before I jog toward my bike.

Houston and Baby are straddling their machines, waiting. I can feel both of their eyes on me, but I ignore them. Instead, I glance around for Carson, frowning when I see her standing next to the gas pump. Her eyes are closed and her head is leaning back against the side of the machine.

“Ready, Sweet Pea?” I ask, hooking my finger in the loop of her jeans. Gently tugging her toward me.

Her cheeks turn red, and I know what her problem is. Her ass is sore. I want to hear her say it, I want to hear the words slip from her full lips. I have a feeling by the time we make it to Canada she’ll never want to be on the back of my bike ever again.

“I can massage it for you tonight,” I grin.

/>   Her mouth opens, and she gasps. “Ace,” she exhales, shaking her head.

She doesn’t tell me no and the pink in her cheeks along with the sparkle in her eyes are telling me everything I need to know. She’d let me. Fuck. Maybe I’ll just fuck her out of my system. God knows I’ve thought about it enough over the last couple of days.

A few minutes later, after I hear her hiss when her ass hits the seat, her arms are wrapped around me and she’s pressed up against my back. We take off. Three bikes and a car, seven people on the way to Roswell, New Mexico for the night.

  CARSON

MY ASS HURTS. It doesn’t just ache, it downright hurts. I don’t know how Ace and his two friends can ride like this on a regular basis. We’re only just outside of Texas and we still have to ride all the way up to Canada. Might as well just chop my ass off completely because I don’t think I’ll be able to make it.

When we pull into a motel parking lot, I practically squeal with excitement. All I want to do is take a hot shower and pass out. At the time Ace demanded that I was coming with them on this trip, I never imagined it wouldn’t be in my own freaking car. I knew it would be uncomfortable to go hundreds of miles in a car, but I never even dreamed of doing it on the back of a bike.

Once the bike is parked, and Ace kicks the stand down, I whimper as I swing my leg around to get off. “Don’t get too excited, we still need to get dinner,” Ace mumbles as I straighten my back and rub the lower part with my fingers.

“No, I don’t need food, I need a shower and sleep. I’m good,” I say, holding my hand up.

He smirks. “You’re so fuckin’ small there ain’t enough meat on your bones for a starving man, Sweet Pea. You’re eating. Plus, I don’t know what Axe would want. So you’re stuck, babe.”

I pout, I can’t help myself, it just happens, and I feel the tears welling up in my eyes. I really, really don’t want to get on that bike again tonight.

  “Fuck,” Ace curses.

He reaches out and I feel his finger hook through my belt loop before he tugs me close to him. My heart rate picks up, just like it did earlier when he pulled the same sexy move. Lifting my eyes to his, I pull my bottom lip back in my mouth.

Ace smirks, his eyes dancing as he looks into my gaze. “Tell me what he would want from a burger place. I’ll bring food back to you, Carson,” he rasps.

The sound of his sexy voice goes straight to my vagina. I almost moan but I hold it back, just barely. “Chicken nuggets and fries. It’s the only thing he’ll eat out anywhere,” I shrug.

He hums. “And what about you?” he asks, lowering his head. “Do you still like a chocolate shake and fries to dip?” he rasps, his face way too close to mine.

My heart doesn’t speed up at his question. No, it stops fucking dead. He remembered. How? He winks, pushing me back slightly and releases my belt loop. “Yeah, I still like that,” I nod, looking at my feet.

“Let me get us checked in,” he says, standing from his seat.

I watch his long thick leg swing over and then he walks toward the registration office. I’m unable to take my eyes off of him, his back, his waist, his sexy ass, and long legs. I force myself to breathe. Then guilt washes over me. He’s Axe’s father, my dead sister’s ex. I should not be lusting after him. I shouldn’t have when they were together five years ago and I really shouldn’t now.

Houston appears at my side. I glance up at him and he dips his chin. “Hey,” he says softly. I nod, giving him a small smile. “Your ass is going to be sore the rest of the way. It doesn’t get better, it’ll just get numb,” he shrugs.

I groan from his words, just thinking about my ass makes me want to break down into tears. Houston doesn’t say anything else, and then a few minutes later Ace appears. He holds up three cards with keys dangling from them.

“Baby, Houston, and Chuck, this one’s yours,” he says, tossing them a key.

“Wait, how many beds are in there?” Baby asks.

“Two, snuggle up boys,” he grins.

Houston clears his throat next to me, and shakes his head. He reaches for one of the two keys in Ace’s hand and snatches it. “Rox and I will be in this room,” he announces.

My eyes widen, and I look over at Roxanne who is standing next to the car, a slow smile appearing on her lips with Houston’s declaration. “You, me, and Axe, Sweet Pea,” Ace says, dangling the last key in his hand.

I shrug. “If it has a shower, and a mattress I really don’t care where I sleep.” Ace’s smile widens and he shakes his head.

“Go take a shower, Sweet Pea. See you soon with food,” he murmurs, then he does the strangest thing. He takes a couple steps toward me, presses his lips to the top of my head and kisses me.

He slips the key in my hand and without another word, or a glance back, he turns from me. I watch as he starts his motorcycle and backs away. Baby starts his as well. I’m surprised, but I’m unable to say anything. I just watch them ride out of the parking lot and presumably toward food.

  CHAPTER SEVEN

  CARSON

THE WATER FALLS against my skin, and I almost scream and cry out of frustration. The water pressure is so crappy that it does absolutely nothing to relieve my aches and pains. Once my hair is washed, I give up and turn the water off. I listen for Axe and hear him giggle in the room as I dry off my body. Wrapping my hair up tightly in a towel, I reach for my thin cotton shorts and tank.

When I’m dressed, I look at myself in the mirror and cringe. I hadn’t realized just how thin this top and these shorts were. I’ve never been in a situation like this before. I don’t really know what to do, or how to act. Plus, Ace isn’t the pissed off man who pushed me in the dirt last night, he’s teasing, affectionate, and it’s freaking me the fuck out.

“CarCar,” Axe calls before I hear his fist beat against the bathroom door. I toss the towel into the sink, then grab my comb before I pull the door open.

“What’s up, my little man?” I ask, crouching down in front of him.

He looks up at me, his blue eyes sparkling much like his father’s. “We gonna lib wif my daddy now?” he asks.

I smile, loving his innocence and the way he says we, like I’m always going to be at his side. I wish it were the case, but I have no doubt that once we reach our destination, I’ll just be Axe’s babysitter. Someone Ace will drop him off with when he wants to party, or needs to work. I’m perfectly fine with that, too.

Maybe I shouldn’t be, maybe I should demand something else, something more, but in reality, I’m the one who fucked everything up. I’m the one who made the mistake. It’s all on me, so whatever breadcrumbs Ace wants to dole out to me, I’ll be ready and available to catch them and devour them.

“Yeah, we are,” I halfway lie.

Axe’s smile widens and he nods. He leans forward and whispers, loudly, “I’m so essited,” he cries.

  “Me too, darlin’, me too.”

I press my lips to his forehead, then stand up and together we walk toward one of the beds. Not wishing to sit just yet, I comb out my wet hair as I watch cartoons with Axe. A few minutes of cartoons, my hair is combed but my shirt is soaked through from it.

There’s a loud knock on the door which makes me jump and yelp. Hurrying over, I look through the peephole to see Ace standing on the other side. A big bag in one hand, and a drink tray in the other.

I open the door, forgetting about my soaked shirt, that is until Ace’s eyes stare right at my breasts. Looking down, I squeal, covering myself with my arm as I step out of the doorway. Ace doesn’t walk straight into the room, no he walks directly in front of me, lowering his head so that his mouth is against my ear.

“You change that shirt and I swear to fuck, I’ll spank you,” he whispers.

I make another squeaking sound. “Ace, no,” I breathe.

He chuckles, brushing his lips across my temple. “Sweet Pea, get used to it. We’re going to have some fun here sooner or later. There’s something…” His words trail off, then
he steps away from me.

I watch his ass as he walks over to the two person table and chair set. Closing the door, I lock it and keep my arm across my breasts. “Axe, dinnertime,” I call out. He comes barreling toward the table and chairs and climbs up in the empty chair.

“Here, Carson,” Ace says, handing me a small bag and a drink cup.

I take it with the hand not holding my breasts, and hurry over to the bed. I climb between the sheets and pull the covers all the way up beneath my arms and tight across my chest. Ace chuckles but doesn’t say anything.

We eat in almost silence, the cartoons being the only real noise in the room, aside from Axe’s random questions here and there.

“Do you have a girlfriend?” Axe asks Ace.

I choke on my chocolate milkshake covered fry and have to beat my chest to keep from truly choking.

I hear Ace laughing, and I watch him shake his head. “No, no girlfriend,” he says and I swear my heart flutters. I glance over at him to find him staring at me. “No girlfriend, no woman, no Old Lady,” he lists, like those words mean something to me, like they’re supposed to have a special meaning. My heart thinks they do, it starts beating like crazy inside of my chest.

Avoiding his continued intense gaze, I look down and focus on my fries and chocolate shake. The room is bathed in silence once more until Axe yawns to break it. I lift my eyes to him and watch as he throws his trash away, then runs to the bathroom. A few seconds later the toilet flushes, the sink water turns on, then off, and then he’s barreling into bed beside me.

Ace crumples up his own trash, I can’t stop myself from turning my head and watching as he takes something out of a small bag. I hadn’t noticed that he had anything in here. He leaves us alone and I set my food down on the nightstand next to me before I slide down in the bed.

Placing my head on the pillow, I turn the television off and turn to face Axe. “Goodnight my sweet boy,” I whisper, running my fingers through his hair.

“Night CarCar, I love you,” he sighs as his eyes slowly close. Mine follow shortly behind his, and I let out my own long sigh as I fall into an exhausted sleep.
